We will be leaving Southampton at 5.45am on Monday 7th April, please comment below for where you would like the pick up point to be. The place with the most suggestions wins! If there are two points on opposite sides of town then we can look at doing both.
It is advised that everyone has their own personal travel insurance, I (Tim) have mine with Sports Cover Direct but you can get it anywhere you like.
Things to pack:
- Passport
- Tent (arrange with others if needed)
- Sleeping stuff (mat, sleeping bag…)
- If you have a camping stove that would be handy, don’t worry if not
- A packed lunch for the journey there will probably be good
- Bouldering gear (shoes, chalk bag, boulder mat)
- Climbing gear (just in case). If you have it take a harness, sling, belay. If you don’t have this then post at the bottom of this page to request it is taken for you from club stores.
- Warm clothes. The nights may be very cold and the days are unlikely to be that hot (ideal bouldering conditions!!)
- Wash kit and towel
- Anything else that you’ll need that’s not on this list
We’ll be returning back to Southampton at about 9pm on Sunday 13th.
This years big trip is something of a special one and we’re all very excited to be heading of to Fontainebleau (aka, Font). Click on the location name above to read a little more about this world famous climbing location just South of Paris.
This is a budget busting trip with 7 days away for just £95. We’ve worked hard to keep the cost to a minimum and this is everything you get for your money:
- Minibus transport from Southampton to Font, including the ferry
- 6 nights at a well equipped camp-site in the heart of the action
- Contributions to your evening meal costs with some group food
This really is an amazing price for what is set to be an amazing trip. Get involved!
So the total cost is £95, to book your space you only need to pay a £30 deposit now, then the remainder will be due by the 17th of March (you’ll be sent a link to pay this online).
Pay your £30 deposit today to confirm that you’re going. Please be advised that price may need to go up for those booking late due to late booking fees with the ferry and camp-site.

There are 13 of 13 spaces remaining | Attendee List |

How do we pay the remainder of the money for the trip?
I think everyone will get an emailed invoice nearer the time. Don’t hold me to that but I imagine that would be easiest.
Ok, I was just wondering because it says it has to be paid in full by the 17th of march (yesterday) but I couldn’t find any link or anything to pay?
Hi guys i may have managed to prospone my dissertation till June so this will be the last chance of asking i promise lol but would everyone be happy to fill in a couple of questionnaires for this trip and do a 10/20 min interview maybe? its fully voluntary and you can say no, just drop me a message. I promise this will not effect your climbing! i am doing a study on motivations for climbers looking at self-efficacy and risk perception.
Please let me know how you feel about this, no reply means your happy 🙂

Yeah I think the meeting point should be Sainsbury’s Bedford place.
Sainsury’s is good. Also, stuff to eat with (mess tin/plate/spork etc) isn’t on the list but everyone needs this!
Cool, see you all at Sainsbury’s at 5.45 on monday morn
